The new version of the wooden shoe

I must say that I – apart from what many of my foreign friends want to believe – have never really been in close touch with my Dutch heritage when it comes to wooden shoes. Like most of us, by the way, but I’m glad everyone seems to be enjoying our little past when it comes to shoe-design, haha. Nonetheless, I can only enthusiastically cheer for the – also Dutch btw – initiative of producing sunglasses made out of wood! I mean: how cool is that?! Handmade, in Cape Town, South-Africa… and for every pair you buy a tree will be planted. That is só 2013: responsible consumerism (anyone who senses the paradox? Haha). Anyhow, the designs are beyond cool, so that on its own should already be a reason to consider Hout Couture (which basically is a degeneration of ‘Haute Couture’, and in this case meaning ‘wood couture’), as your spring 2013 sunglasses-buy. It is being sold in several stores around the Netherlands, Belgium and Ibiza, and in their webshop. (they ship worldwide)
