15 sensible investments

Tennis shoes – H&M | sunnies – Ray Ban | bucket bag – Zara | lace pencil skirt – Zara | leopard slip ons – Nelly.com | crop top – Topshop | triangle lace bra – Monki |ย  perfume – Calvin Klein | bomber jack – Zara | Nike Air Max 1’s – Nike | kimono – River Island | dungarees – MOTO

Every season, right before sales start again, I give an overview of 15 items that will boost your seasonal wardrobe. Any of these items are so much on trend, that with whatever other items from your closet it for sure is ‘hot and happening’. Nice if you can score the seasonal things for a little less, non? Besides that, there are also some good investments on the list!

1, 7, & 9ย  Plateau tennis shoes, slip ons, and Nike Air Max 1

Sneakers are hot, even Karl Lagerfeld had his Chanel army parading in true Chanel sneakers. They come in basically three, all very hot options: Firstly, plateau tennis shoes, like those cool ones from H&M. They are a bit nerdy and geeky, but that’s at the same time what makes them so effortlessly cool. Secondly, slip ons.. everyone tries to get their hands on a leopard printed pair, including me! I love the ones from hairy fabrics, but these are really good, too. Thirdly, the Nike Air Max 1s, here in the Netherlands literally everyone around me (on the subway, on campus) is running around on them. They are super comfortable, look really cool with almost everything, and there are countless designs and colours (or design your own pair!). I couldn’t live without them anymore.

2. Designer sunnies

Whether it’s a beautiful classic (I love my RayBan Folding Wayfarer!!), or a more seasonal one (I’m lusting over Carrera’s with mirroring glasses for a year already), designer sunnies are a really good investment in my opinion. Most of them are more nicely to look through, and they for sure look just a little classier than your H&M pairs.

3. Crop tops

Whether you hate them or not, you cannot really get around the crop tops anymore this year. They are everywhere, and perfect for festivals and beach/park days. I love them on a good pair of vintage Levi’s shorts, for one reason because of the fewer exposed skin ๐Ÿ˜‰

4. Bucket bag

If you were still looking for a bag; stop searching. The bucket bag is IT. Opt for a classy leather one (coloured or simple and black), or go for an ethnic version perfect for those festivals and your summer holidays. The options are countless (only Zara is already carrying several great ones), as also the looks you can complete with them.

5. Lace pencil skirts

It seems to be kind of a thing: lace bottoms. The (pastel) coloured lace pencil skirts are fun to play around with and go great with aforementioned crop tops and tennis shoes ๐Ÿ˜‰ What do you think?

6. Triangle lace bras

Not for everyone (ehem, me ๐Ÿ˜ฆ), but oh so cool under a breezy blouse. They’re hot for some time now, and not without a reason. I love this Monki one.

8. Your new summer perfume

Every new summer requires a scent that will accompany all the new memories. I love to smell a particular scent and think back of the summer that I wore it.

10. Breezy bomber jacket

Bomber jackets were quite a thingy last fall, and now they are back. Nonetheless in a little more breezy fabrics, and most of the times with screaming prints. I must say I’m not a huge fan of the printed ones, but this Zara number is pretty, pretty cute, don’t you think?

Hรก, aren’t they cool?! Not too flattery, no, but definitely, unquestionably, super duper cool. I want one to go with my popsicle Primark crop top… And yes: they’re also pretty cool with all kind of sneakers (or roller blades, for that matter). Who’s with me? =D

12. Kimono

I’m not entirely sure what to think of them, but that they’re all around is obvious. H&M has them in their latest collection, as well as River Island, Nelly, Asos, you name it. Can be pretty cool for a festival or camp fire, with some vintage Levi’s shorts (actually, these should have been on the list as well!) and platform tennis shoes.

13. A badass workout outfit

Whether it’s from Nike, (Stella McCartney for) Adidas, or just from the H&M or Bershka (they have really nice workout items right now!); badass workout clothes are better motivators than anything in the world. And since we all want to work out more often when the weather gets better, this might be your best investment! ๐Ÿ˜‰

14. Something with fringe

Fringe is hot. Whether it’s on a cardigan, jacket, bag, or kimono; it’s hot and we should all go get it. Perfect for a little boho touch, which is all I want this summer.

15. Something leather

Leather is even hotter than it already was in the previous seasons. I’m seriously stacking up, and my closet starts having some fetish-ish features, which I am not sure I should be proud of. I have it all: pants, baggy pants, shorts, a dress, … all that’s missing is a top, and that’s only because I didn’t want to spend money when I tried it on in the store a couple of weeks ago. So yes: definitely great investments and there are countless great pieces out there at the moment!
